What to Expect

The Applied Bachelor in Avionics Engineering is a four-year program based on the vocational curriculum for higher education awards. During those four years learners will receive a broad education and application in all work in one of the most technologically advanced branches of engineering. They design, construct, test and maintain electrical and electronics equipment and components on aircraft. Working within this field, will give you the opportunity to conceptualise a project, from the drawing board to planning, implementation and evaluation.

The structure of the programme is skill-based with less focus on theory and more on coursework and application. Students will learn the intricacies of aircraft avionics systems, the various types of system failure that can occur and the implications of failures. It blends various disciplines such as mathematics, science including aerodynamics, flight control, electronics and communication. It is a highly skill-based programme with a view to making the learner skills transferable to a range of employment options within the aviation industry.

Accreditation

The Applied Bachelor in Avionics Engineering is accredited by theMinistry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, UAE.

The programme is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society, RAeS as meeting the EngC, CEng requirements in part and the IEng requirements in full. Students who complete the programme have the option of obtaining a Coventry University certificate in addition to Emirates Aviation University award.

This degree has been accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) under licence from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council.  Accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by the Engineering Council in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC).  An accredited degree will provide you with some or all of the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for eventual registration as an Incorporated (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng).  Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degrees, and an accredited degree is likely to be recognised by other countries that are signatories to international accords.

Your EAU advantage

Our programmes provide you with the essential skills and knowledge required to succeed in your chosen specialisation and the aviation industry in general.

Future career opportunities

EAU has a first-rate working relationship with Emirates Airline and other UAE aviation establishments, which offer excellent job opportunities. This Applied Bachelor in Avionics Engineering programme aims to equip graduates with the skills to become successful engineers and managers in their discipline and other specialized engineering sectors. Our students have gone on to find careers in both avionics design and application and maintenance engineering with aerospace companies, systems suppliers, component manufacturers and service providers locally and abroad. Some have chosen to pursue a higher education (Master’s and PhD degrees) in several engineering areas.

Internship and Practical Experience

In collaboration with EK Engineering, the Emirates Group and other Industrial partners, EAU offers its active students who are enrolled in this programme, a six-month industrial internship. This is embedded into the curriculum of the programme and weighting fifteen credits in their semester 6 of their studies.

The coveted internship programme with one of the region’s most successful organisations, will help students combine academic study with practical skills and experience relevant to their education and career plans.

While at EAU, not only students learn comprehensive theory, but EAU will also provide the means to gain practical experience in well-equipped laboratories and workshops as well as the provision of hands on experience in a real workplace environment through on job training and internships.
