Dr Zara Canbary is a distinguished academic and industry professional with a unique blend of experience in teaching, research, and practical applications in the aviation and finance sectors. She holds a PhD in Economics with distinction from Brunel University London and a First-Class Honors degree in Finance and Accounting, complemented by a Master’s in International Business with Distinctions and a First-Class Honors Bachelor's in Business Economics. Her industry experience includes serving as a Financial Analyst in Airport Management at Heathrow Airport, where she gained firsthand insights into the operational, financial, and strategic challenges of managing one of the world’s busiest airports. This role involved analysing key performance metrics, optimising resource allocation, and supporting financial planning to enhance operational efficiency. Her ability to interpret complex data, manage financial forecasts, and contribute to strategic decision-making provided a deep understanding of the intricacies of airport management. Dr Zara’s professional background makes her uniquely qualified to teach aviation management courses at the university level. She bridges the gap between academic theory and practical application, offering students invaluable insights into real-world challenges and solutions in the aviation industry. Specialising in air transport economics, financial management, and operational strategies, she designs and delivers comprehensive, industry-relevant courses that prepare students for dynamic careers in aviation management. A recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award (2018) and Research Excellence Award (2019), Dr Zara is recognized for her innovative teaching methods and impactful research contributions. Her passion for fostering the next generation of aviation professionals is evident in her commitment to creating engaging, data-driven learning experiences. With over 14 years of teaching experience and a wealth of industry knowledge, Dr. Canbary is an inspirational mentor and leader in her field.
