Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering
Walid Abou Hweij obtained his BE degree in Mechanical Engineering from Beirut Arab University, Lebanon in 2014, a Master degree in 2016 and a Ph.D in 2022, both in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Currently, Dr. Abou Hweij is an Assistant Professor of the Aeronautical Engineering at EAU. Prior joining EAU, he served as a Faculty Lecturer at Phoenicia University, Lebanon and a Teaching Assistant at the American University of Beirut where he delivered courses related to thermal fluid sciences among which are the design of thermal systems (DOTS), fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer. At EAU he delivered courses directly related to aircraft structures and aircraft propulsion. His field of interest covers topics related to industrial applications of computational fluid Dynamics (CFD). He addresses topics covering the hydrodynamic and mixing characterization of fluid flows as well as topics related to HVAC applications including Thermal Comfort and Indoor Air Quality. Dr. Abou Hweij has been publishing high quality peer reviewed research papers in international journals as well as conferences and proceedings in the area of applied CFD. Currently, he is delivering a technical course on CFD applications and supervising final year projects related to aerospace applications using CFD tools. Moreover, he serves as a registered reviewer of the international scientific journal “Energy conversion and management”.
